So the time finally came. We were going to buy our very first home. It's something we'd been looking forward to doing since transplanting from Los Angeles 2 years ago. This added a few obstacles as we didn't have the same knowledge of the area as the locals. By chance, we signed up to access a realtor page to view homes in the area. Later that week, we received a phone call from the bubbliest, most cheerful real estate agent...Emily Hazelwood. We met that week and began taking a look at some homes we had been seeing on various sites/apps. After about 3 weeks, we started to get burned out. Trying to find your very first home can be tedious and exhausting. We were feeling burnt out. We called Emily to let her know maybe we weren't ready. She remained calm, cool, and collected. One thing she said that stuck with us was, "I'm not trying to sell you a house. That's not what I do. I show you homes that I feel meet your requirements and tastes until you find one that is a good fit." She was right.
She never pressured us. Never showed us anything that was completely different than the parameters we set. Each home shown was chosen carefully and discussed via email and text. We felt less burnt out, but more heartbroken when a house we liked would get snatched up before we could act! Eventually we say one pop up on the realtor.com app "Just Posted". We HAD to be the first to see it! We called Emily and she met us there at a moment's notice. We decided that this would be our home.
After that, it was smooth sailing. Paperwork was a breeze. Throughout the entire process, Emily was a consummate professional and explained various areas of real estate, things that may/may not add value to a home, etc. Our offer was accepted Mother's Day 2017 and we moved in Father's Day. Everything was quick and painless. Being from Bakersfield, Emily definitely knows the city. She also has a vast network of people specializing in plumbing, electrical, inspections, etc. Anything we needed was a phone call away.
She even wrote a sweet letter that describes our family and who we were to the seller of the home. We later found out that the seller was so impressed by the letter, she shared it with our soon-to-be neighbors. Honestly, we cannot say enough kind words about Emily Hazelwood. We highly recommend her and hope that she is able to assist you the way that she did for us.
